Background of the Study
Sustainability has become a key focus for organizations aiming to balance economic growth with environmental and social responsibilities. Food production firms, in particular, are under growing pressure to adopt sustainable practices due to their impact on resources and ecosystems (Porter & Kramer, 2023). In Jigawa State, where agriculture and food production are central to economic activities, sustainability strategies can significantly influence organizational reputation and consumer trust.
Effective sustainability strategies such as waste reduction, energy efficiency, and sustainable sourcing not only enhance environmental stewardship but also strengthen organizational reputation, leading to competitive advantages (Osman et al., 2024). However, many food production firms in Jigawa State face challenges in implementing these strategies due to limited resources, technological gaps, and insufficient regulatory frameworks.
This study investigates the sustainability strategies employed by food production firms in Jigawa State and their impact on organizational reputation. It aims to provide actionable recommendations for fostering sustainable practices in the region.
Statement of the Problem
Food production firms in Jigawa State are grappling with the dual challenge of meeting market demands while adhering to sustainability expectations. Limited adoption of sustainable practices has led to reputational risks, reduced consumer trust, and strained stakeholder relationships (Abdullahi & Bello, 2025).
While existing research highlights the importance of sustainability in food production, there is limited focus on how these strategies impact organizational reputation in the context of Jigawa State. This study addresses this gap by examining the interplay between sustainability strategies and reputation management in the region.
